Bishwanath has long held a Prominent place in the fields of Literature and Journalism. In line with this rich Tradition, a significant milestone was reached in mid-1982 when a group of young Journalists from Bishwanath—then working with National and Local Newspapers—took the visionary initiative to Establish the Bishwanath Press Club.
Their primary goal was to unite Journalists working in and around Bishwanath under one platform, enabling them to collectively fulfil their professional responsibilities with greater impact and coordination. Following dedicated efforts and widespread support, the Bishwanath Press Club was officially Established on 1st January 1983.
At that time, Press Clubs were virtually non-existent in most Upazilas, with only a few exceptions in the Greater Sylhet region. Remarkably, even several district towns in Bangladesh had yet to form such institutions. This makes the founding of the Bishwanath Press Club a pioneering and historic achievement, one that is now inseparably linked with the pride and legacy of Bishwanath Upazila.
We—and future Generations—hold deep Respect and Gratitude for the pioneering Journalists whose dedication made this possible. Their names deserve to be remembered with honour, etched in Golden letters in the History of the Bishwanath Press Club.
